We take active learning to a whole new level. Expanding beyond our location at Hill Center, we use Washington, D.C. as our classroom. Whether it’s visiting the U.S. Capitol as part of a history lesson, exploring math at the National Building Museum, or cultivating a community garden around the corner, we see everything around us as an opportunity to learn and grow.
We tackle two subjects at a time, focusing on each for several hours a day – an approach that allows students to achieve deeper learning. Our students are intellectually curious. They welcome new challenges and think critically about real-world problems. All of our students graduate ready to pursue their passions.
Every student has a “front row” seat. Our teachers provide care and empathy to ensure all of our students receive the individual attention they need to succeed. We start and end every day, week, and year with a single-minded determination to serve our students well

Dear Prospective Students and Families,
I'm delighted to introduce you to Blyth-Templeton Academy, a unique school providing empathetic and personalized education delivered by faculty and staff who are passionate, skilled and creative educators. At our core, we are a welcoming school community that encourages academic excellence and celebrates student achievement in and out of the classroom.
Our mission is to offer an accessible program based on principles of best practices for teaching and learning in the 21st century. Our school is small by design so the relationships that foster student engagement can be strong. Committed to experiential learning, our block academic schedule (two classes per ten-week term; four terms a year) and small class size (average of eight students), allows us to use Washington D.C.'s extensive resources for a highly individualized and active educational experience.
Blyth-Templeton Academy is a member of an extraordinary group of learning environments that follow the same format of student-centered experiential learning and can easily be part of a BTA student experience. Our four term system allows the flexibility to enter BTA at any term, travel with Blyth Global High School for a term, take courses online, and to take courses and do community service over the summer with International Summers/Community Service.
Blyth-Templeton Academy serves students who want to be prepared to thrive in any setting and who want to be fully engaged in their own academic process and in their community. We look forward to sharing our program with you.
