Yelena Janumyan, Ph.D. Bio: Yelena is a STEM educator formerly at Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, TN. She works to motivate her students to be independent thinkers, life-long learners, and compassionate people through the continued development of problem-based, interdisciplinary, engineering design projects. She earned her B.S. in Molecular Biology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Vanderbilt University for her work on the cell cycle function of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2. Yelena discovered her love for teaching while participating in the Scientist in the Classroom program run by the Center for Science Outreach at VU.
