Lisa Preston

7th and 8th Grade STEM Teacher


Two-time Teacher of the Year Lisa Preston has a passion for individualized, hands-on, real-world learning. For nearly a decade, she has been working in urban public schools promoting inquiry and problem solving in middle school Math and Science classes. Lisa’s passions led her to present at the International Conference on Urban Education in Nassau, Bahamas on the benefits of STEAM and problem-based learning in urban classrooms. Her prior experiences, ranging from managing recording studios to being part of the management team for the musician Sting, have given Lisa a unique perspective, set of tools, and enthusiasm as an educator.  She is an accomplished visual artist and has exhibited in Nashville.  She earned an A.S. in Audio Engineering from Massachusetts Communications College, a B.S. in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix, and an M.A.T. in Elementary Education from Belmont University.
